Our Classroom

Caterpillars (3 year olds):

The early goals of this program are to help the children become comfortable in a group, become accustomed to the routines of school life, and get to know and trust adults other than their own parents. In the beginning of the school year, the children will move rapidly from activity to activity and we encourage them as they follow their own interests. More structured activities will be offered as the children show lengthening attention spans and learn to work together. The activities are selected to provide stimulation for each child’s emotional, social, physical, cognitive and creative development. As the children are engaged in projects and activities within the classroom, we encourage “using our words” to communicate, taking turns, and respect for each other.

The Caterpillar program is open to children who will be at least three years of age December 2nd of their enrollment year. A deposit will be required of all new members at the time of registration – first and last months tuition plus $40 application/insurance fee.

Caterpillars attend class every Tuesday and Thursday.

Parents are required to work in the classroom two days a month.

Butterflies (4 year olds):

The primary mission of the Butterfly program is to encourage continued growth in the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. The use of play, experimentation and hands-on experience are vital tools for achieving these goals. The basic schedule supports this development approach by providing a focus and rhythm to the school day. Incorporating appropriate educational tools and materials enable each child to learn at his own pace and ability.
In addition to units based on prewriting and proper letter formation, Butterfly students attend a child focused yoga class once a month. Appropriate field trips are used to enhance subject matter whenever possible. However the primary focus is on each child and his or her individual development, with special emphasis placed on retaining individuality while learning to function within a group.

The Butterfly program is open to children who will be at least four years of age December 2nd of their enrollment year.

A deposit will be required of all new members at the time of registration – first and last months tuition plus $50 application/insurance fee.
